Federation first on Chief's vlog
Leicestershire Police Federation chairman Tiff Lynch joined forces with Deputy Chief Constable Roger Bannister to record this week's vlog on behalf of the Chief, who is on annual leave.
Tiff, making her debut appearance in the vlog, spoke about her decision to release footage showing an officer being assaulted by a man in a custody suite and revealed that there had been 12,500 views of the incident on the Federation's Facebook page. Public feedback, Tiff explained, had been supportive of the officer.
Mr Bannister welcomed the Federation's Protect The Protectors campaign and said the film showed what police officers and police staff were regularly having to deal with.
He also paid tribute to Dom Allen, who had helped arrange for the families of fallen officers to attend the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) service at the National Memorial Arboretum at the weekend, and also praised the Leicestershire Police team of cyclists who joined the 180-mile Police Unity Tour which came to an end at the arboretum ahead of the memorial service.
Tiff echoed Mr Bannister's views and added that in speaking to family members at the event many had said that while the service was about remembering the past it was also about embracing the future due to the support available.
