Spit guards survey enters last week

More than 500 officers have already completed our spits guard survey.

But we are urging more to take the time to fill it out so that we can get clear evidence for our discussions with the Force.

A number of forces, on the back of the Police Federation's Protect The Protectors campaign, are issuing spit guards to their officers and it is a matter we want to raise with our chief officer team.

"We want to hear from as many officers as possible," says Tiff Lynch, chairman, "The more officers who fill out the survey, the better informed we will be when talking to chief officers.

"The results of the survey will enable us to collate data on spitting incidents over the last 12 months, find out if officers are aware of the health risks associated with being spat at and judge if public perception should outweigh officer protection."

To take part in the survey, please click here - the link is only valid from a Force computer and please note that your collar number is only required for potential duplication.

Please help us to help you by completing the survey.

It closes next Friday (17 March 2017) and we expect to announce the findings the following week.
