Pensions: a timeline of developments

It has perhaps been difficult to keep track of all the twists and turns in relation to police pension reform in the six years since Lord Hutton's report signalled an overhaul of public sector pensions.

But, the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has compiled a 'timeline' document that gives a run-down all the developments so that members can refresh their memories and get up to speed with the current state of play.

"The Federation may have no legal right to negotiate with the Government on pensions but it does have an influence the arrangements by engaging with the Home Office and other key stakeholders at statutory and non-statutory meetings, through consultations and via correspondence," says Matt Robinson, secretary of Leicestershire Police Federation.
