PublicationsThunderclap: showing support for policing
Officers and members of the public are being encouraged to get behind a national campaign aiming to show support for police officers.
The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) is organising a 'Thunderclap' for next Wednesday (14 December).
"A Thunderclap is a social media technique that has been proven to create a surge of support by pushing out a message across social media including Facebook and Twitter," says Leicestershire Police Federation chairman Tiff Lynch.
"Everyone who signs up to the Thunderclap will have the same message - 'I'm saying thank you to the police officers who protect us 24/7. I #BelieveinBlue' - posted on their social media accounts at 12pm on Wednesday 14 December.
"The aim is to promote a positive message and raise awareness of the amazing job police officers do. The more people who sign up to it, the more evidence we gather to show support for police officers and the unique role they play in society."
