Detectives to be honoured at National Awards ceremony

Best of Detectives from England and Wales recognised at Police Federation National Detectives' Forum Awards

Detectives from across the country will meet this week to share best practice and discuss the many challenges facing investigative policing. The Police Federation National Detectives’ Forum (PFNDF) will culminate with an awards ceremony which will recognise the achievements of some of the country’s finest detectives.

70 officers have been nominated for their contribution to detective investigation work, including;

  • A Cheshire Detective Constable who ensured that a rapist was jailed after his victim committed suicide
  • A team of detectives who helped stop a turf war in Northamptonshire
  • Essex detectives who brought two acid-attack criminals to justice

Delegates attending the two-day seminar will hear presentations on a number of issues and investigations, including;

  • Social Media and its use in investigation and prosecution
  • Cybercrime
  • Operation Pipette – the death of a vulnerable adult at the hands of her own family

Ahead of the event and forthcoming awards, Martin Plummer, chair of the Police Federation National Detectives’ Forum said: “Policing and protecting the communities which we serve continues to pose daily danger for officers throughout England and Wales. PFNDF are proud to reward the intricate, dedicated and innovative investigations carried out by detectives throughout the country.

“The annual Police Federation National Detectives’ Forum awards showcase the very best of detective work, both individually and collectively. Nominations from constabularies around the entire country have again highlighted incredible tenacity, perseverance and dedication by detectives to overcome all obstacles, ensuring justice for the victims of crime for some of the worst offences imaginable.

“Detectives will gather at the PFNDF annual awards seminar to celebrate these achievements, and we will embrace the opportunity to thank detectives throughout the country for the work they do and the service they continue provide.”
