PublicationsTribute to DC182 Matt Spradbury
Leicestershire Police Federation has paid tribute to former DC Matt Spradbury who died on Thursday. He was 49.
Matt was forced to retire as a police officer last year when he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) but returned as a member of police staff working within major crime.
"We were saddened to hear that Matt had passed away," said Tiff Lynch, chairman, and Matt Robinson, secretary, in a joint statement issued on behalf of Leicestershire Police Federation.
"Matt served his community as a police officer for 23 years, working in various roles including spells as a GDO, an IRV driver and as a CID investigator. He was also a keen runner and cyclist making his diagnosis with MND particularly cruel.
"Our thoughts at this sad time are with his family, his friends and his colleagues. Rest in peace, Matt."
