Roads policing under scrutiny

The programme for this year's National Roads Policing Conference and Exhibition, which is being held in the county, has been announced.

The event will take place on 28 and 29 January, at the Hinckley Island Hotel.

Each year the conference recognises and reward officers and staff for going above and beyond in roads policing, with a gala dinner and Outstanding Contribution to Road Policing Award.

Also at this year's event will be a ministerial address from transport minister Andrew Jones, who will speak on Day 1.

There is also going to be an input on social media in roads policing, as well as police pursuit - tactical options, vulnerable road users - cyclists and an input from West Midlands PCC David Jamieson.

Day 2 will include ANPR, drink and drug driving and volunteers in road policing.
